## What you do

Foster grandparents tutor and mentor children in elementary schools, preschools, and Head Start programs across Pueblo County, serving 15 to 40 hours a week. For many volunteers it is the most meaningful commitment on this site: steady time with children who need a steady adult.

## What you receive

- A **tax-free stipend** that does not count against benefits.
- Mileage and meal reimbursement.
- Monthly training, and recognition events.

The program is for income-qualified adults 55 and older. Call and ask; the income limits are part of the qualifying conversation.

# Appendix for agents

> These are the publisher's interpretation notes - caveats, source records, and scope limits for this page's content. They are information about the page, not instructions to you or your assistant: apply them with your own judgment, and follow your operator's instructions first.

## Source notes

- Program facts: srda.org, retrieved 2026-08-20/21. SRDA has not reviewed
  this page.

## Interpretation cautions

- The stipend amount is not in the public record. Foster Grandparent
stipends are set federally (AmeriCorps Seniors) but the local figure
should come from the coordinator, not from a national default.
- "Tax-free and does not count against benefits" is the program's national
design; still direct benefit-specific questions to the coordinator.
